Find Pet-friendly Accommodation in Geelong

Geelong is a port city located on Corio Bay and the Barwon River, just 75 kilometres southwest of Melbourne.

Geelong has been reinvented of late. Old, industrial spaces are being transformed into creative hubs, urban precincts and fabulous eateries. From the conversion of an old mill into the East Coast headquarters of Little Creatures brewing to the transformation of the Waterfront into a spectacular place to stay and play, Geelong has changed. And we’re all for it.

The best bits of old Geelong still survive including the shady Botanical Gardens and its tea house. Is there a better place in the city to enjoy a hot drink and a scone? We think not! After your cuppa, walk off the calories with a wander around the grounds with your four-legged mate

More than just the city itself the whole region is a playground for travellers who love their dogs. From Lara to Barwon Heads you can swim and play on the area's beautiful beaches and bushwalk along its coastal tracks.

The Bellarine Rail Trail spans a whole 32.5kms and is a favourite with dog walkers, so pick your favourite section for a spin with the hound.

Alternately, take your buddy along the Barwon River, providing a pretty backdrop for a run, walk or ride. Here’s some handy info on where and when you can get out with the dog.

Want to get a unique view of the region? Why not jump on the ferry? Searoad Ferries welcome four-legged customers. They can get on board and wander the outside decks. At the ticketing window, every pooch receives a doggie treat and onboard there is a doggie station with a water bowl.

Things to do with your dog in Geelong:

• Take an on-leash walk around the city
• Job along with the revamped Geelong waterfront
• Have a cuppa at the botanical gardens
• Swim and play on the region’s pet-friendly beaches
• Walk the Bellarine Rail trail
• Jog along the Barwon River
• Take the ferry for a unique view of the region
