Find Pet-friendly Accommodation in Launceston

Launceston is Tasmania's second largest city and a vibrant northern hub for food and wine, culture and nature.

One of Australia's oldest cities, Launceston has one of the best-preserved early cityscapes in Australia with its elegant Colonial and Victorian architecture and century-old parks.

Launceston is an active city, crisscrossed with walking trails taking you past stunning natural wonders, heritage monuments and trendy urban treasures. The city’s trails can be as short as 500 metres to more than four kilometres long; most link with other pathways to cater for travellers of all abilities and their pets.

One of the city’s most versatile parks is the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area. Bordering Cataract Gorge, this reserve has something for everyone, from wheelchair accessible trails and scenic lookouts, to multi-use tracks shared by walkers, mountain bikers, dog walkers, horse riders, orienteers and runners.

The city also has plenty of off-leash dog parks dotted around its suburbs. We recommend grabbing a handy trail guide from the information centre and setting out to explore them all on foot.

With all that walking you’re bound to work up a thirst head to one of the city’s many dog-friendly cafes for a hot coffee and a bowl of water and a biscuit for Fido.

Things to do with your dog in Launceston:

• Take a walking tour of the city and surrounding bushland
• Explore the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area
• Play ball in one of the city’s off-leash dog parks
• Have a pupachino at a pet-friendly cafe
