Find Pet-friendly Accommodation in Gold Coast

The Gold Coast has two distinct personalities. You’ve got the glitz and glamour of the nightclub strip, and on the other, you have family-friendly activities, a laidback coastal lifestyle and surf culture.

Whatever your taste or budget, you’ll be sure to find a Gold Coast accommodation option to suit your needs.

For a high-energy holiday, check out the Gold Coast’s largest holiday hotspot Surfers Paradise. Sometimes called Australia’s Miami, travellers will find plenty of high-rise apartments, resorts and backpackers in the thick of the action to rent all year round.

For those of you looking for a more relaxed holiday head out of Surfer’s for ocean-side homes, secluded mountain villas, campsites and farmstays where you and your pet can soak in the breathtaking views.

With town names like Surfer’s Paradise and Mermaid Beach, it’s no surprise this stretch of the coast is famous for its water sports.

A few boutique surf and paddleboard schools in the region accept dogs, making it easier for you and your four-legged friend to pick up the sport while you’re in the area.

Maybe surfing isn’t your thing, but you still want to get in the warm waters. Main Beach at Southport is a prime spot for people watching and going for a swim. Follow it up with a coffee and pup-achino from a local café.

Try doga in Coolangatta. This class combines a dog walk on the beach with meditation, dog tricks, obedience training and stretching. We know you’ll have a lot of laughs with your pooch.

Getting to the Gold Coast is easy by plane, train or automobile. Coolangatta Airport is only 28km from Surfers Paradise, and the drive from Brisbane takes less than an hour.

Things to do with your pet on the Gold Coast:

- Play fetch at a local dog-friendly beach
- Go fishing with your best mate at Caloundra
- Try doggie yoga in Coolangatta
- Grab some seafood to share at dog-friendly fish and chip shop
- Learn to paddleboard with your pup at Currumbin Creek
- Stop for a pup-achino at a dog-friendly café in Southport
- Treat your pooch to some creative grooming and even a colour at the pet spa in Mermaid Beach
